Promise Scholars attending a Fall Festival in the Academic Achievement Center: Fall 2019

Hello Promise Scholars!

Welcome to UConn! Or: Welcome BACK to UConn!

However you are joining us, we are extremely excited you are here for the 2020-2021 year! For those of you new to campus, UConn has something to offer everyone, which means there will be many opportunities for you to explore, create, lead, and learn. In addition to rigorous academics, the number of ways to become involved and engaged is one of the benefits most students experience during their undergraduate career. At the same time, for some new students especially, finding a community within a large institution can be challenging.  This has never been more true than today.  With the ever-changing situation on campus, in your community, and around the world, there is a lot that is uncertain about this upcoming semester.  However, one thing of which you can be sure,  you will be coming to campus as part of the Promise Scholar community!

Because of your hard work in high school, you earned a Promise Scholarship to attend the college of your choosing.  We are honored you chose UConn. There are over 300 Promise Scholars at the UConn Storrs campus. This includes students from both the New Haven and Hartford Promise programs. This means you not only have the financial assistance of your Promise Scholarship, but a built-in community and network of peers. There are also many staff on campus and from your Promise program that are here to assist you during your time at UConn.  At the Academic Achievement Center (AAC), we have staff dedicated to supporting you.  Whether it is figuring out who to contact regarding your scholarship, discussing the challenges and successes of UConn life, or learning how to better prepare for a test, we are here for you!  While any of the staff in the AAC can offer you support, your primary contact is Liza Boritz.

You can reach Liza by email at: Liza.Boritz@uconn.edu

You can also set up an appointment with Liza via Nexus.

Please feel free to reach out with questions or just to introduce yourself! Be on the look out for further information regarding special services for the Promise Scholars!
