Desirah Rijo

Hello, My name is Desirah Rijo. I am a Psychology Major on UConn’s Hartford Campus. I was placed on probation my first year at UConn. I went from the lowest GPA possible to being an Honors student. It taught me a lot about self discipline and what it takes to be a student here at UConn. I’m hoping I can teach you the same. I was a Uconn Connects Mentor during the fall semester of 2022. Through it I learned how to communicate, be confident in my work, help others, hold myself accountable, and be more disciplined. I love forming bonds with students and helping give them the jumpstart they need to improve. One of my main goals is to educate students on resources inside and outside of UConn that can help them grow academically, mentally, and holistically.

My favorite thing about the AAC is that regardless of your background, current/past situations, beliefs, wants, needs, or goals you are welcome and accepted there and I believe that’s one of the things that makes the AAC a very special place on campus. No matter the situation the staff and students at the AAC will do their absolute best to help you and that’s part of the reason I love it here. I hope one day to see you there!
