Shanelle Hills

Hi! My name is Shanelle Hills, and I am a Senior majoring in Psychological Sciences. My overall goal is to become a Psychologist with a Doctorate. I have always enjoyed helping people and being a confidante that they can rely on when needed. I am always energetic with a smile on my face and will try my very best to a simile on yours.

The reason I became an Academic coach is that I know firsthand that being a college student is not easy and it takes a lot of trial and error. I have struggled  in the past semesters, and it took me a while to understand that I needed to change my study habits and admit that I needed help. When I became a UConn Connects Mentor, I learned and further developed my ability to advise students who want to make a change in improving  their organization skills, study habits, and motivation. I love being able to sit down one-on-one with a student getting to know them. I love having the opportunity to work with their needs by educating them on useful strategies that I have learned as a previous UConn Connects Mentor and a student. Now being a current Academic Coach I can continue to use those skills and provide support for students.
