Andrea Calderon

Hi!! My name is Andrea Calderon and I am a junior majoring in Human Development and Family Studies. From a young age, I always had the desire to help others and make a difference in people’s lives. Being a UConn Connects Mentor helped me solidify this goal of mine and has shown me the importance of helping students find and implement resources that will help them throughout their college journey. As a first generation student, I understand the pressure of doing everything on your own and I want to help students in the same position to understand that it is perfectly normal to ask for help. I have learned a lot about learning strategies and studying techniques during my time as an UConn Connect’s Mentor that has helped me as well and I look forward to learning and helping out more as an AAC coach! 

Some interesting fun facts about me: I love traveling, reading, the beach, listening to music and food. My goal is to become a social worker and help provide young children and adolescents the resources they need to succeed. I am a proud Latina and butterflies are my spirit animal!
